I Feel Sick

I will never forgive the lying cunts who own and run our club for what they've done. It will take years before we recover from this betrayal.

Get a grip.

It's done, the Boleyn ground is dead and gone. I refuse to get upset about it anymore. We are a football club not a football ground.

Modern football is shit and we all know that don't we?

That's not how I see it. That was our identity, our home, our soul, not 'just a ground' We may still be a football club, but we aint the same football club anymore, are we.

Re: I Feel Sick
This doesn't bother me now much as much as I think the new stadium is far from ideal.
I have my memories and most of the better ones were before Brown built the tacky towers and crappy new stands. The whole area has changed and it's not just the football but the change as a whole. Pity they aren't knocking more of it down.

As for it being our identity and soul - that has nothing to do with the ground IMO and everything to do with the fans. When we are all replaced in the OS by daytrippers politely clapping in their seats that is when the soul has gone. Not quite there yet but getting there.

Re: I Feel Sick
The Boleyn is all we ever knew, that's why.

Sadly in 20 years it will be nothing but a fond memory. We were there over 100 years remember and it's only gonna hurt for the first few years.

For me the club is about Moore, Bonds, Devonshire, Brooking, Lyall and the docks heritage where all my family worked right up until it was all shut down.

All of these are important to me. When Bobby Moore died I was devastated and he has now ascended into true never to be forgotten legendary status. Just as the Boleyn Ground will. But gone it is and our mourning must stop sooner or later.

Our history is our identity. We existed before the Boleyn Ground was even there and I hope we will exist long after the OS is gone too, not that I'll be here to see it.

The truth is it's probably going to take me and all the other old cunts to be deceased before we stop comparing the Cesspit with our old home... the young 5/6 years old will know no different so the cesspit is all that they will know... otherwise I'm afraid that people will compare and will continue to do so for a very very long time

It's just a load of rusty steel, concrete and plywood crap turrets. It's us the fans that make the club not the ground.

Can't see why the Daily Fail think it is newsworthy TBH, just a building site.

Agree entirely, some of us will never accept the move and that is it, final

As time passes those memories will become even sweeter and just as Sold says, it will not be until we are all gone that a veil will be drawn

Mind you, that will be some time, my lad is 18, loved UP and hates the new place - so a few more years of reminiscing beating Spurs, Liverpool, City and Man Utd to go....

Bheave. More than three quarters if the place wasnt the upton park that I most loved. I was excited when they rebuilt the south bank (I remember the lorry coming in with what I thought must be the biggest steel girder in history) and how many people cried when they built the Rio stand?

Dry your eyes and sip your a Oranjeboom.

Re: I Feel Sick
Change standing for all seating and you have sanitised controllable crowds. Some of the so called olduns don't remember standing and customers still came flocking and tought it's 'lively'.
